Young cardiologists about Russian Cardiac Society Congress
The annual Congress of Russian Cardiac Society took place on September 22-25, 2015 in Moscow. We were fortunate to attend it and would like to describe format and content of this event from the viewpoint of young cardiologist. There were more than 6,000 of participants including experts from different regions of Russia and representatives of 25 foreign countries. Russian Young Cardiologists Community also was fully engaged in meetings and panel sessions.
The leading topic of the first day was The Battle of Scholars where all participants demonstrated brilliant level of theoretical knowledge and good clinical training. Therefore it was difficult to reveal the leader but young cardiologists from Krasnodar got deserved victory. They were awarded a travel-grant for the upcoming ESC Congress of Cardiology 2016 in Rome.
During the first day of the Congress there was also Final Round of young scientists competition. The format of the meeting included a presentation of five best works, then Board members of the jury made the decision to award the winners. Svetlana Gudkova from Samara took first place with research work on syncope. Second place was awarded to Ekaterina Makeeva from Ulyanovsk. She evaluated the level of erythropoietin as a biomarker of kidney damage in acute coronary syndrome. Valery Ionin from Saint-Petersburg got third place with the study of galectin-3 level in patients with atrial fibrillation. Research works of Gladkih Natalia (Tomsk) and Tatiana Pirueva (Krasnoyarsk) were also among the finalists and have been performed at a high level.
