Educational Initiative of the Russian Society of Cardiology “Effective Medical Practice”
Russian Society of Cardiology announces start of the educational project for Russian cardiologists “Effective Medical Practice” aimed at improvement of doctors’ knowledge and practical skills within their post-graduate education.
The pre-requisites to initiate the educational project were both the events happening in the sphere of continuous professional education and the priorities in improving the educational level of Russian specialists announced by the Ministry of Healthcare of the Russian Federation.
Together with holding numerous scientific and practical schools, congresses, conferences and symposia as well as active participation of scientists and professors of various chairs, clinics and associated societies, still there are a number of difficulties and problems in post-graduate education of doctors-cardiologists. Unfortunately, geographical location of educational events and their topics are often biased toward sponsors’ priorities, the events are uncoordinated, information on their demand in the regions is lacking, and the effectiveness of educational programs is often left unestimated.
Joining the efforts of all parties interested in efficient post-graduate education of doctors, this educational project is aimed at:
-
enhancing practical training of doctors within their post-graduate education and qualification improvement;
-
systematizing initiatives being realized in the sphere of post-graduate education of doctors-cardiologists on the territory of the Russian Federation;
-
strengthening the role of RSC as the leader in joining efforts to improve doctors’ postgraduate education.
To achieve the goals, the project “Effective Medical Practice” will be completed in three stages.
Stage 1. The main goal is to organize a unit within RSC structure – Educational Board responsible for educational project development.
Stage 2. The main goal is to create a common electronic platform that would allow:
-
getting RSC accreditation by lectors;
-
getting RSC accreditation for educational events;
-
distance learning;
-
on completing the educational course, printing RSC certificates registered in the unified database;
-
getting feedback from the project participants.
Stage 3. The main goal is to monitor and support the high level of the educational project.
At present, the Educational Board has been formed. Its main responsibilities are:
-
To create educational content on RSC website: distance learning, acquiring and translation of educational materials, attracting authors to write topical articles, etc.
-
To launch RSC educational standard (lectors and educational programs accreditation, certificate database support, the standard observation control).
-
To interact with pharmaceutical companies (sign contracts, agree programs, control the standard observation).
-
To participate in development of long-term training program for cardiologists within their post-graduate education.
-
To create a unified system of grading for the purpose of transition to the credit-based system of learning.
-
To interact with educational organizations (universities, post-graduate education faculties, etc.)
