On June 1-3, 2018 the 5th EHRA in Russia course took place in Moscow. In the past few years (the first meeting was held in 2016) this course became a big event in arrhythmology world as it provides the basis for exchanging experience, professional discussions and educational activities. The main interests of participants are X-ray endovascular diagnostics and treatment of arrhythmology and cardiovascular surgery.
Leading Russian and world experts gave lectures on diagnostics, treatment and prevention of arrhythmias and interventional arrhythmology. Among them were Prof. Amiran Revishvili (Vishnevskiy Institute of Surgery, Moscow, Russial president of the All-Russian Scientific Society of Specialists in Clinical Electrophysiology), Prof. Hein Heidbuchel (University Hospital Gasthuisberg, Leuven, Belgium; EHRA president-elect), Dr. Natasja de Groot (Erasmus MC, Rotterdam, Netherlands), Dr. Maksim Didenko (Kirov Military Medical Academy, Saint-Petersburg, Russia), Dr. Evgeny Lyan (Heart and Vascular Center Bad Bevensen, Germany), Dr. Francisco Moscoso Costa (Hospital da Luz, Lisbon, Portugal), Prof. Evgeny Pokushalov (Meshalkin National Medical Research Center, Novosibirsk, Russia), Dr. Aleksandr Romanov (Meshalkin National Medical Research Center, Novosibirsk, Russia).
Video and unique clinical anatomical training class mastered by Dr. M. Didenko allowed participants to personally study electrophysiology on the actual heart, work out catheter positioning in different tachycardia and learn transseptal puncture technique.
Intense scietific programme of the course included symposia on basic electrophysiology and duscussions on assessment techniques of refractivity, conduction and entrainment mapping, biophysics of ablations, transseptal puncture technique and many others.
Strong interest of the audience was pointed at the ESC guidelines on Ventricular Arrhythmias and Sudden Cardiac Death (2015) as well as ESC guidelines on Atrial Fibrillation (2016).
The most active participants received educational grant to the EHRA 2019 congress that will be held in Lisbon, Portugal.
