Year by year this congress brings together many active participants which can be explained by wide variety of interesting sections and discussed topics. The slogan of this year is “Heart failure: classical repertoire, modern instruments”.
The number of delegates was more than 6,000 doctors of different specialties. Sessions took place in overfilled meeting rooms, and each lecture was followed by active discussion especially if the topic was related to the latest results of the high-scale clinical trials and registries (CABANA, CRT Survey II, REPORT HF and others).
Scientific programme included a lot of oral and poster presentations on implanted devices and catheter techniques as invasive treatment of heart failure and hybrid surgery become more popular and modern arrhythmology develops rapidly and becomes more and more multi-disciplinary.
Heart Failure 2018 opening ceremony included a lecture of the legend of cardiology Prof. Eugene Braunwald (USA). Later participants were able to personally meet the scientist which became a truly memorable event foreveryone.
Sessions and projects for young specialists were the key events: award for the best basic and clinical research, rare case discussions within the Clinical Case Corner and workshops were the most interesting part. Virtual simulator that models different cardiology clinical situations was a hit. Also, anyone could try to perform a CPR.
Many delegates of the congress received travel grants from the Heart Failure Association of the European Society of Cardiology. In total, 350 doctors who have some results in heart failure treatment and prevention (research, publications) became grant recipients.
Another unique opportunity was granted to the young specialistы within the Career Café session when 20 participants who had passed the preliminary competitive section were able to meet the leading experts in heart failure treatment for a 30-minute talk.
Presentations of the Russian speakers were met with interest and several developing in our country research areas were acknowledged by the experts as the most perspective and innovative within the closing Highlights Session.
Specialist of the Research department of arrhythmology of the Almazov Centre presented two clinical cases within the moderated sessions and 6 poster presentations including on the pediatric arrhythmology.
