National Russian Cardiology Congress included a lot of other thematic sessions of interest to young researchers. In our opinion, one of the most exciting was the international symposium on the participation of the Russian Society of Cardiology in European observational studies and registries. This topic is currently noteworthy worldwide, since registers cover the most significant socio-economic and epidemiological problems - acute coronary syndrome, atrial fibrillation and chronic ischemic heart disease. Professor Roberto Ferrari, who is the coordinator of this initiative in the European Society of Cardiology, had the first presentation. He reported the first results of long-term observation of patients from different European regions, and possible directions of further development of the project. The preliminary findings were sometimes unexpected. For example, according to the registry, only half of patients in Europe reach target values ??of blood pressure or cholesterol levels during treatment and not all of those with high thromboembolic risk receive anticoagulants in atrial fibrillation. However, the formation of the registers has been initially directed to estimate the actual situation and to optimize therapy according of the real data from different countries.

Then Professor Dmitry Duplyakov (Samara) told about the Registry of acute coronary syndrome with ST segment elevation. It includes large hospital centers with primary PCI and aims the evaluation of main demographic, clinical and biological characteristics of patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction. Special attention will be drawn to diagnostics and treatment tactics using the strategy of early reperfusion in various European countries.

Professor Dmitry Lebedev (Saint-Petersburg) was the next speaker and presented the preliminary results of Atrial Fibrillation Ablation Registry. The study includes nearly 4,000 adult patients with paroxysmal or persistent atrial fibrillation and indications for catheter ablation. Primary target is estimation the epidemiology of AFib and possible diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, as well as analysis of early and late results of radiofrequency ablation considering predictors of arrhythmia recurrence. In Russia only experienced centers are involved: Federal Almazov North-West Medical Research Centre (Saint-Petersburg), Meshalkin Research Institute of Pathology of Circulation (Novosibirsk), Bakulev Research Center (Moscow) and other leading electrophysiology clinics. The Registry also aims to evaluate how the recommendations of the most recent European guidelines are adopted in clinical practice.

Professor Albert Galyavich (Kazan) presented the first data from Registry of chronic ischemic heart disease, which involved more than 2,400 patients in 2012-2014. It targets to improve knowledge about the care of patients with coronary artery disease worldwide. The registry provided important data on possible predisposing factors. It was noted that the vast majority of patients had a combination of several risk factors (smoking - 55%, diabetes - 30% and arterial hypertension - 83%), which had a significant negative impact on the prognosis of the disease. This observational Registry is prospective where results are still preliminary and require further study. This information will help to improve the management of patients suffering from cardiovascular disease, which represents the number one killer in western countries.
