Training course "Treatment of terminal chronic heart failure" took place in St. Petersburg

On January 28, 2010 the first heart transplantation was performed in the Almazov Centre in Saint-Petersburg. For the last 10 years of the transplantation program 141 recipients were operated, 6 of them were children from 10 to 16 years.

This year, on the 10th anniversary of the transplantation program in the Almazov Centre. the V Postgraduate Training Course "Treatment of terminal chronic heart failure" was held. Every year the number of participants increases, and this time cardiologists, physicians, pediatricians, cardiac surgeons, ICU specialists as well as students and PhD students took part. Doctors from different regions actively participated in the meeting: they arrived from Moscow, Murmansk, Ukhta, Tyumen, Barnaul, Krasnoyarsk, Orenburg.

Speakers of many specialties gave in total 32 lectures within the course. They discussed management of CHF patients, donorship, process of surgery itself, children cardiac transplantation, co-morbidities. Participants also had an opportunity to get practical skills of working with patients from waiting list and after transplantation.

The next VI Training Course will be held on February 1-12, 2021.
