The results of the MMM17 in Russia were included in the Lancet journal

In May 2018 issue of the Lancet journal an article presenting the results of the May Measurement Month 2017 (MMM17) was published. The social action was held during May 2017 in 80 countries and united 1,201,570 participants (18 and older). The aim of the global screening was increasing of the public knowledge about high blood preassure and risk factors it causes as well as prevention and treatment of hypertension.

Supported by the #RussianSocietyofCardiology 11 Russian regions (Saint-Petersburg, Moscow, Belgorod, Bryansk, Kemerovo, Krasnoyarsk, Samara, Saratov, Stavropol, Ulyanovsk, Surgut) took part in the MMM17 and measured BP in 1532 participatns. Organizational and methodological guidance of the action in Russia was performed by Prof. Alexandra Konradi (St.Petersburg) featuring the RSC Working group of young cardiologists.

According to results, one-third of the researched participants were diagnosed with hypertension (34,9%), half (46,3%) of the participants receiving antihypertensive treatment didn't reach target BP, and 17,3% of participants didn't receive antihypertensive therapy while the BP was high.
